Abraham Ancer has been announced as Miura Golf’s first ever PGA TOUR brand ambassador.

In a press release sent around the golf world this morning, Miura Golf announced they have signed their first ever PGA TOUR brand ambassador: Abraham Ancer.

We don’t usually cover new sponsorship signings, but something as monumental for a company like Miura Golf deserves special attention. It’s not too often you see the words “first ever ambassador” in an announcement.

Ancer, who is paired with Tiger Woods and Bryson DeChambeau for the first two rounds of this week’s WGC event in Mexico, has played Miura clubs since 2017. The new deal will continue to play their irons while donning the Miura brand logo on his hat as part of the new sponsorship.

“I switched to Miura irons well before any partnership; I just wanted to play the best forged irons available,” Ancer said. “I am honored to represent Miura and look forward to introducing Miura to the Mexican market.”

Ancer begins the week ranked 61st in the Official World Golf Rankings.

Miura CB-301 Cavity Back Irons

Miura Golf’s new CB-301 irons are a gorgeous addition to a product line that prides itself on design and performance. Here’s a first look at the newest cavity backs from Miura.

miura cb301.jpg

Miura Golf has always been known as one of the finest iron designers and manufacturers in the world, so when a new release is announced the golf world pays attention. Their new CB-301 cavity back irons are no exception.

Announced in mid-January and available now for purchase at all major club fitters and the Miura Golf website, the CB-301 irons are a thing of beauty. What else would you expect from the company who boasts past designs like the MB001? The newest member of the Miura family fits in nicely and continues the tradition of stellar looks while promising equally impressive performance.

“We are excited to bring a new level of distance and performance to Miura Golf,” said Hoyt McGarity, President of Miura Golf. “With the CB-301, we’ve created the finest forged cavity back in Miura’s history.”

Getting a close up of the CB-301 irons was a treat at the 2019 PGA Merchandise Show. Miura has a knack of designing clubs with a stellar first impression, and these irons plated in nickel chrome touched with a satin finish are absolutely striking.

Designed for players who need a little more forgiveness and distance, the CB-301 is the longest forged cavity back Miura has ever produced.

Design characteristics steeped in tradition yet flexible enough to welcome innovation is what sets this company apart from others. The CB-301 is constructed to optimize performance for a wide range of golfers, bringing the classic forged feel of a players’ iron in a package that is playable by all handicap levels.

REVIEW: Miura MB001 Irons

The Miura MB001 irons are not only gorgeous in design, but also some of the highest quality golf clubs money can buy. Here is our firsthand review of these spectacular clubs.

The Miura MB001 irons are arguably the smoothest, most gorgeous irons on the market. After trying a custom set of these blades, I can safely say they are the best clubs I've ever hit in my life. A couple weeks ago I outlined my club fitting experience at Club Champion, which left me with a deeper understanding of my golf swing, game, and equipment. During that fitting I learned that I would not only benefit from playing blades and a lighter shaft, but I needed a lie angle one degree flatter than standard. This straightened out my natural hook and left me with a renewed confidence in my ballstriking.

Roughly 10 days later I was pleased to receive an email notifying me that my new Miura blades were ready for pick up.

As you can tell from the pictures above, these clubs are gorgeous. Stunning might be an even more appropriate adjective.

Hitting these clubs is an experience in itself. Every strike reverberates with a soft, muted, yet strong sensation in your hands that screams high quality. When a golf club is designed by a man who uses the same techniques and attention to detail used to build samurai swords, you'll expect nothing less than perfection.

These clubs deliver on that expectation in spades.

No, these clubs are not meant to give you explosive distance gains (even though I ended up hitting them further than my Mizuno MP5's). They are butter knives in every sense of the phrase: super thin yet designed for a specific purpose. Off-center hits are punitive, and you will lose distance due to your mistake.

Isn't that the point, though?

Luckily, there is still enough technology in each Miura MB001 clubhead to offer some relief on miss-hits. For example, my 6-iron carries roughly 170 when pured, and averaged between 163 to 166 yards when struck off-center. Not a massive drop in distance, but enough to let you know you've slipped a little.

Miura is a boutique golf company that will not fit every golfer's budget. You are going to pay a pretty penny for any Miura club, and the MB001 blades are no exception. Coupled with a professional fitting (which I strongly recommend), my set of Miura's would easily top $3000. Full disclosure: I received these clubs as a media member and club reviewer.

Overall, the Miura MB001 irons are the finest clubs I've ever owned. While I will be hanging on to my Mizuno's as a great second set of irons, the Miura's have taken their rightful place in my golf bag and will remain there for years to come.

REVIEW: Miura Golf HB3 hybrid

The Miura Golf HB3 hybrid combines a classic design with modern-day technology to produce a truly special utility club. Read on for our review.

miura-main-e1444521309434.png

Miura Golf has long been known for their high-quality, premium irons and wedges commonly found in the bags of truly elite players. Their new hybrid -- available in HB3 or HB4 models -- brings the company's craftsmanship and classic feel to your long game. I tested out the Miura Golf HB3 hybrid during a recent golf round. Here are the results.

Well hello there beauty. The MG Hybrid by my friends at Miura Golf.

Look and Feel (4/5)

Miura Golf has always produced golf clubs that are classic in appearance and relatively soft in feel. A joke that goes around golf equipment circles basically suggests that if you don't want to buy a new set of clubs, don't test out anything made by Miura. You'll immediately open your wallet after hitting one golf ball.

The Miura Golf HB3 hybrid is true to form in this regard, featuring a clean, classic look that will appeal to fans of traditional design. With the exception of two golf weight screws on the sole of the club, this utility club is about as no-frills as they come. And that's fine with me.

No moving parts. No sliding mechanisms. No adjustability features whatsoever. You get what you see with this hybrid, and all of it is great.

In terms of feel, the Miura Golf HB3 provides a soft, muted sensation at impact while producing a sharp, almost loud sound at the same time. The club's stainless steel head produces a "ping-like" sensation that might seem harsh to some players. Personally, it's not my favorite impact sound, but this can be overlooked thanks to how the club feels at impact.

Performance (5/5)

I found the Miura Golf HB3 hybrid to be very accurate and even a little longer than my current model despite being one degree "weaker" (19 degrees vs. 20 degrees in the Miura). I normally carry my hybrid about 210 yards, and the Miura HB3 easily exceeded that distance by five or more yards.

The club's patented Circle Cut Sole design pushes its center-of-gravity low in the clubhead without bottoming out. This prevents your golf ball from "ballooning" too high in the air, which squeezes more distance on every hit.

Overall Impression (4/5)

While the high-pitched impact sound will take some getting used to for players who prefer softer feedback, the Miura Golf HB3 hybrid performs admirably from any lie. I experienced a small boost in distance overall, and accuracy was never an issue. My golf ball also landed softly onto the green on my best hits, giving the Mirua HB3 a true "iron-like" feel and performance.
