DALLAS, October 26 – For decades, golfers have used highly-engineered, spiked footwear to stay glued to the course, but an upstart footwear and apparel company from Dallas thinks that the opposite approach is the better way to achieve the traction and stability golfers’ desire. TRUE linkswear recently launched its first product, the TRUE tour, which is the first golf shoe built on a barefoot platform. The TRUE tour is the lightest golf shoe on tour and features the thinnest sole in golf.  The innovative golf shoe is worn on the PGA Tour by Ryan Moore, an investor and co-founder of the company. TRUE footwear was inspired by an emerging barefoot trend in running, where many shoes have shifted away from highly-engineered structures, such as arch supports and heavily-cushioned heels, to a shoe that better utilizes the anatomical features of the foot.  The idea is that nature’s engineering is best, and that a minimalist shoe with an ergonomic traction system allows a golfer’s body to naturally stabilize itself while feeling the course like never before. TRUE tour takes this nature-engineered approach to the golf shoe.  Specific features of the TRUE tour include:

  • Weight of just 11 ounces, making it the lightest golf shoe on the PGA Tour.
  • The TRUE Barefoot Platform, which features a wide toe box so toes can function naturally through the swing.  This encourages proper weight transfer, balance, and natural stability.
  • An Ergo-Traction TPU sole that is only 2.5 mm thick, making it the thinnest sole in golf, while providing the durability to stand up to the most avid player.
  • Memory Foam in the heel and a fitted sock liner create optimal comfort from the moment the shoe is put on.
  • 360 ° Waterproofing, which keeps feet dry all day long.

Moore acquired a stake in the company in May and wears the shoes both on and off the golf course.  “These shoes are the lightest, most comfortable shoes I’ve worn, and they really improve my sense of balance and connection with the course,” said Moore.  “I knew the first time I wore them that I wanted to compete in them as soon as possible.” Since putting the shoes in play at the Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial, Moore has compiled more than $1.7 million in earnings, four top-10 finishes and ended the season in 21st position on the FedEx Cup points list. He currently sits at 41st in the Official World Golf Rankings. “We said early in our development that Ryan Moore was the only PGA Tour player who we thought exemplified our corporate values and product position, and we were thrilled he wanted to join the team,” said Rob Rigg, President of TRUE linkswear.  “Ryan’s feedback and endorsement gives us Tour player validation as we bring our highly innovative and unique product to market.” TRUE tour shoes are available in four color combinations and can be purchased online at www.truelinkswear.com for a retail price of $159.  They will be available at a number of golf retail locations in the winter of 2010.
