Yeah, sorry. The headline was just too tempting to pass up. Sue me. In a surprising development, Callaway Golf has announced they are appointing entertainer Justin Timberlake as their new Creative Director of Marketing/Branding. Yes, thatJustin Timberlake.
Timberlake, 30, is an avid golfer - and pretty talented, at that, sporting a sub-10 handicap - and currently owns a golf course with his parents near their Memphis, TN hometown. He is also the primary host of the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open, set to take place in October 2012 in Las Vegas.
"Justin is an extremely gifted artist, an avid golfer with a deep passion for Callaway products and his creative energy will serve us well as we connect with the next generation of golfers," said Jeff Colton, Sr., Vice President of Global Brand and Product at Callaway Golf.
So now that JT is the new creative director over at Callaway Golf, here are a few thoughts I can already suggest to Mr. Timberlake that I wouldn't mind seeing rolled out as soon as possible.
1) Clothing that actually fits Phil Mickelson properly. I think I speak for all people currently typing on my laptop when I say that this should be addressed post haste.
2) Better names for Callaway's various product lines. Can I get a Futuresex/Lovesound Driver, or a "Chop Me Up"golf ball with increased spin out of the rough?
3) New clothing lines that will make women the likes of Jessica Biel, Britney Spears, and Cameron Diaz swoon over me while on the putting green? I'm sure my wife won't mind too much, either.
